Biography
I am a seasoned e-discovery special master, forensic neutral, mediator, technical special master and arbitrator retained for complex, high-stakes cases around the country with a proven track record. I am not only an experienced jurist with a deep understanding of both law and technology, but I also actively work in forensics, e-discovery, cybersecurity, blockchain, and loT daily. This mixture of law and technology makes me a unique resource allowing me to save parties and courts substantial time and money as I can resolve complex disputes, perform the technical work, and educate the parties and the courts - a "triple threat".
Over the past fifteen years, I have served as a mediator, forensic neutral, technical special master, monitor, arbitrator, electronically stored information (ESI) liaison, discovery referee, special master, and neutral expert all over the globe in dozens of cases, arbitrations, investigations, and mediations. Regulators, Judges, and Attorneys come for my clarity, focus, and ability to help parties settle the most complex disputes, serve as a forensic neutral on behalf of the course, act as a technical special master or e-discovery special master in disputes where the courts and parties recognize the need to have a resource like my-self resolve the dispute (class actions, MDL, and complex multi-party disputes).
As my track record and teaching experience demonstrates, I have a national reputation for my experience at the intersection of technology and the law and I am as comfortable talking with entrepreneurs, IT professionals, and developers as he is with lawyers and judges. I have educated hundreds of judges, thousands of lawyers, and thousands of technologists on both legal and technical concepts and sit as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Rutgers School of Law, teaching classes in Cloud Computing and Cybersecurity, and the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Law and Cyberwarfare. In addition, I have authored over 200 legal and technical articles and publications recognized by several Supreme Court Justices and cited in hundreds of articles and court opinions. I also founded Law & Forensics, a global legal engineering company, focused on cybersecurity, blockchain, forensics, and electronic discovery.
In addition, I have built and sold several technology companies and served as the Worldwide Director of Discovery & Information Governance at Charles River Associates. I sit on the advisory boards of several loT, cloud computing, mobile, and cybersecurity startups.
In addition, I co-founded the Global Cyber Institute UCLA Extension that educates and trains lawyers, judges, business leaders, insurance executives, and security executive all over the world.
